Burst or leaking pipes

If you think that the leak is outside your property, please click here to find out more.

Got the plumber's number?

It is always a good idea to keep a local plumber's number handy by the telephone in case of an emergency.

Minimise the damage:

If your pipes burst then your priority will be to minimise any damage from escaping water. You can do this by taking the following actions:

Immediately turn off your stop valve and drain your water system.
Collect as much water as possible in buckets, baths and containers as this water can be used to flush the toilet - do not use this water to drink or cook with.
Make sure that your central heating boiler is turned off.
Do not touch any wet electrical fittings - call in an electrician.

Insurance:

Once you have the immediate situation under control we advise that you call your insurance company as soon as possible.

If you find that the pipes inside your property are leaking, you are advised to contact your local plumber immediately.
