Simply hover over different
areas on the image below and click to view the information
on how to use the feature.
1. Main navigation
The main navigation is colour
coded so that each channel has its own colour. There
are two ways of using the buttons. The first is
to simply click on the button to navigate the channel
in the traditional way. The other is to use the
slide menus. The arrows pointing to the right indicate
that there is additional content that can be accessed.
When any channel is accessed the arrow on the button
will vanish temporarily until you leave that channel.
The slide menus appear
when you hover the mouse pointer over any button in the
main navigation. To use the slide menu move the pointer
first horizontally to the right and then down. Click to
access the information that you require.
The sub-channel navigation
appears on the right of each page whenever you access
any of the main navigation channels. You will note that
the colours of these buttons will match the main navigation
button colour that you accessed. When you click on any
of these buttons the button that you click will turn blue
and the arrow will now point to the left (instead of right)
to show that you are looking at this sub-channel.
The quick jump menu is
a fast method of accessing the content. Links to the most
popular content are available here. Simply click on the
'down' arrow and move your pointer over the information
you want to access and click to instantly jump to that
page.
Below the sub-navigation
you will find the floating links. These are similar to
the links in the Quick Jump Menu. These links will differ
depending on the area of the website you are in. These
links do not lead to external websites but instead lead
to other related areas of the Tendring Hundred Water website.
The crumb trail is useful
for understanding the structure of content. As you delve
deeper into each channel; an additional layer is added
to the crumb trail. The crumb trail is also a series of
links which you can use to back-track. The crumb trail
will not change relative to your browsing activity, so
each page within the website has a fixed path and therefore
a fixed crumb trail.
The search field can
be used to find specific pages within the website containing
the keywords that you have typed into the search field.
Simply insert the keyword/s and press the find button.
The search engine will return a list of pages that you
can click to view.
The bookmark button is
on every page of the website and can be used to add the
page that you are viewing to the list of favourites/bookmarks
for quick online access later or for offline browsing.
Most of the documents
provided on the Tendring Hundred Water website are PDF
documents. An Acrobat Reader plug-in is required by your
browser to view the PDF documents. Please use this link
if you have not already installed the Acrobat Reader.
You only need to this once.
The footer navigation
is at the bottom of every page of the website and provides
easy access to the feedback form (which you can use to
comment on the website), the enquiry form (for customer
enquiries) the site plan (a tree map of the pages in this
website) and this site help.
